The staff is most pleasant and helpful. There is an excellent medical staff and a nurse is on duty 24/7. A hairdresser and podiatrist are also on staff. We are free to come and go, and take part or not as we wish in the planned activities- an exercise class every morning, two bus trips a week to various shopping malls, games, movie outings, sing-a –longs, etc. I have been a resident at the Chateau for 1 ½ years now, and have no regrets about my decision to move here.

Two years ago it became apparent that my wife Joan and I needed help. So our daughter made a survey of seniors’ residences and strongly recommended Chateau Dollard. We then moved into respite care just to look the place over and make our decision and after several weeks we committed ourselves to a lease.

At the time we were both mobile although Joan had Alzheimer’s’ disease and needed help in the mornings and evenings. Here we had everything we needed- and exercise program, entertainment programs such as movies, crafts, billiards and good meals. Any problem that arose was handled very efficiently.

Gradually Joan deteriorated and finally she broke her hip, but as her needs increased the Chateau was able to provide support. Joan is now on total care and what is very important to me is that the staff have always treated her with dignity, respect and real affection. She is fed, washed and dressed and placed in her wheelchair every day and I can move her around and even take her outside if we want. I am grateful to our daughter for making the right decision for us and to all the management and staff who have made this a happy place to live.
